Health and Peace in COVID-19 Times through the System of Yoga in Daily Life

On the occasion of the current problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, experts from the fields of medicine, health and yoga presented the benefits and effects of the system of Yoga in Daily Life on people's physical and mental health.

- Kateřina Sheardová, MD, PhD, neurologist from the Faculty Hospital of St. Anne in Brno, and a member of the international research centre ICRC in Brno. She presented a clinical study of the International Clinical Research Center, St. Anne's Hospital about 'Yoga in the prevention of memory problems in Covid times'. 

- Roman Bednár, MD, PhD,  deputy head of physiotherapy, balneology and rehabilitation department of the hospital in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, spoke about the effects of yoga breathing exercises on improving the body's lung capacity and oxygenation, underscored with scientifically based measurements.

- MM Swami Vivekpuri from Zagreb, Croatia and MM Swami Gyaneshwar from Jaipur, India, also emphasized the helpful effects of yoga and a vegetarian way of life in COVID times, from their many years of experience as practitioners and teachers of the system Yoga in Daily Life.

- Mag. Gregor Kos from Slovenia gave an overview of the work and merits of the author of the system Yoga in Daily Life, Vishwaguruji Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, and underlined the health improvements through yoga exercises with scientific studies.

After a short break, Vishwaguruji, president of SSMWPC and initiator of the conference, gave a public lecture and showed simple and effective yoga exercises, also with a focus on attaining and maintaining health in COVID times. He also called on people to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle to avoid animal suffering and protect the environment.

After this interesting and successful conference in Brno, Vishwaguruji visited Prague where he met the Ambassador of India to the Czech Republic, His Excellency Shri Hemant H. Kotalwar. The inspiring meeting ended with a sequence of exercises from the Sarva Hitta Asana series in the system Yoga in Daily Life, for members of the Indian Embassy.
