Yoga and World Peace

The conference titled Yoga and World Peace and organized by the SSMWPC, a philanthropic NGO in special consultative status with the UN ECOSOC, marked the 15th anniversary of Paramhans Swami Madhavananda’s Mahasamadhi (final liberation) in recognition of the fact that Holy Guruji’s entire life was an epitome of love and of universal peace - the notion that instigated the establishment of the United Nations.

Conference: 'Yoga and World Peace'

Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council announces that on March 7, 2018, a World Peace Council Conference will take place on the topic 'Yoga and World Peace'. The conference has been organized by Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council (SSMWPC), in cooperation with the International Day of Yoga Committee at the United Nations, and United Nations Staff Recreation Council (UNSRC) / Enlightenment Society (SEAT).

The International Day of Peace has been observed by member states of the United Nations since 1981. With the declaration of the observance, the UN’s original aim was to contribute to the ideal of peace and to alleviate the tensions and causes of conflict, both within and between nations and peoples.

Remarkable peace gathering at the United Nations in Vienna

VIENNA, 2 October 2015 – While world leaders are proclaiming an historical post-2015 Agenda with partnership engagements for the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations in New York, more than 200 delegates and representatives, from NGOs and academia around the world, have gathered in the United Nations in Vienna to commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence.

The seeds for the Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council : Project for Reconciliation - Journey for Peace and Friendship Honouring the Ancient Culture and Living Wisdom of the Aboriginal Peoples of Australia April 17-27, 2011 were sown by Paramahans Swami Maheshwarananda in April 1995 more than 15 years ago in Queensland, Australia.

The International Conference on “Youth and Ethics Education”, Prague, Czech Republic

The international conference on "Youth and Ethics Education" organised by the Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council and the Youth Union of Yoga in Daily Life started on Friday evening, 3rd Dec. 2010, with a "Colourful Concert" , a cultural programme that reflected different streams of contemporary and traditional spiritual music. On Friday, at the ceremonial opening was present Indian Ambassador D.P. Srivastava.
