UN 2023 Water Conference - Virtual Side Event

The Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council in collaboration with Yoga in Daily Life USA and the International Day of Yoga Committee at the United Nations is hosting an on-line summit as part of the UN Water Conference 2023 and in honor of the United Nations decade dedicated to water. All are welcome to join!

The International Day of Peace has been observed by member states of the United Nations since 1981. With the declaration of the observance, the UN’s original aim was to contribute to the ideal of peace and to alleviate the tensions and causes of conflict, both within and between nations and peoples.

Yoga, Non-Violence and World Peace discussed at Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council conference in Prague

Prague, December 5, 2016 - Just a few days after UNESCO inscribed yoga on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the international conference on “Yoga in Daily Life – a Path to Non-Violence and World Peace” was held in Prague, Czech Republic on December 4, 2016.

Together with the Alexandria city mayor Allison Silberberg, and former mayor Bill Euille, Vishwaguruji Maheshwarananda planted a red cedar Peace Tree in Four Mile Run Park to symbolize the importance of both peace and preservation of nature.

Remarkable peace gathering at the United Nations in Vienna

VIENNA, 2 October 2015 – While world leaders are proclaiming an historical post-2015 Agenda with partnership engagements for the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations in New York, more than 200 delegates and representatives, from NGOs and academia around the world, have gathered in the United Nations in Vienna to commemorate the International Day of Non-Violence.
